The series continues!
Explore the intersection of OCD with Autism and ADHD, focusing on their similarities and differences. Learn how to differentiate symptoms and adapt Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) when Autism or ADHD co-occurs, with special attention to those previously diagnosed with Atypical Autism or PDD-NOS, now classified under Autism in the DSM-V.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Dive into the world of Neurodivergence as we explore the overlapping symptoms of OCD co- occurring with Autism, and co-occurring with ADHD. This presentation explores the nuanced ways these diagnoses interact, with a focus on the similarities and differences when these co-occurring diagnoses present in individuals.
But we won’t stop there—understanding symptoms is only half the story. We’ll also provide actionable insights on tailoring Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD, to meet the unique needs of these individuals.
Our discussion will especially emphasize clients who might have been previously diagnosed with Atypical Autism or Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), terms that once existed in the DSM-IV but have since been merged under Autism in the DSM-V. By addressing this diagnosis, we aim to equip you with tools to ethically and effectively meet the needs of neurodivergent individuals.

DIFFERENTIATING OCD AND ANXIETY DISORDERS
Statistics reveal that individuals with OCD often face a lengthy journey of 14-16 years before receiving effective treatment, highlighting the critical importance of an accurate diagnosis as the initial step toward changing these figures. In this presentation, we will compare OCD with GAD, Specific Phobias, Social Phobia, Illness Anxiety Disorder, and Somatic Symptom Disorder. It’s essential to understand the DSM-5 criteria for OCD to provide accurate diagnosis and treatment. Let's begin by diving into this exploration of diagnosing. LEARN MORE
