Leaning into LGBTQia Ethics

In this insightful video, Monet David, LPC-ADHD-CCSP, provides a preview of her upcoming continuing education class, "Sounds Gay--I'm In!" Gain a clear understanding of the course's objectives and what participants can expect to learn. Whitney Storey, LPC, engages Monet in a crucial discussion exploring why it is essential for mental health clinicians to cultivate not only LGBT affirmation but also genuine competence. This preview highlights key topics that will be covered, including the significance of historical context in understanding the lived experiences of the LGBT community, the imperative for ongoing professional development in this evolving field, and concrete, actionable strategies for demonstrating meaningful support for queer clients in their practice.

Leaning into Ethics: Discomfort in Therapy

In this conversation, therapists KD Holmes, Monet David, and Whitney Storey explore the role of discomfort in therapy—from clinical interventions like ACT and ERP to the personal and professional growth that happens in the therapy room. They discuss how discomfort, when approached with care and intention, can lead to meaningful change. Touching on trauma responses, white supremacy culture, and leadership dynamics, they reflect on the value of leaning into discomfort—not avoiding it—as a path to healing, connection, and growth.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK ABOUT THIS CLASS

"This was honestly one of my favorite CEUs I've attended lately. The content was relevant to the modern days issues present in parenting and working with children. Monet did a great job of objectifying it into a more clinical approach which will give us added professionalism and confidence in working with families in these situations."
Stephanie H.
“Monet was a clear, concise, well-researched presenter who exhibited both a deep understanding and passion for the work she was presenting. This was easily one of the best seminars I've had the privilege of attending. The material presented was well-organized and walked through foundational knowledge, as well as the practical, and sometimes difficult, application within a realistic framework.”
Zach H.
“This presentation has been so helpful! I’m so grateful to be present!”
